Signed Jacquelin Castle Landscape Painting - Oil on board painting depicting an architectural landscape with a castle and smaller stone cottage. Signed ”Jacquelin” and possibly dated 1846 along the lower right. With an Alderfer Auction tag affixed along the verso ”12/03/2020 - lot 2277.” Sight; height: 7 1/4 in x width: 9 1/4. Framed; height: 12 3/4 in x width: 14 3/4 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: The canvas is stiff and uneven. There is craquelure. There are scattered areas of inpainting, primarily along the architectural elements of the painting. There are minute losses to the pigment along the extreme lower edge, particularly where the canvas meets to the frame. The work rests slightly askew within the frame. The frame is structurally stable, however, the frame is slightly tilted. Wear to the frame, including separation to the joints, small chips, and losses. Soiling to the verso of the canvas. Several residual paper labels affixed along the verso of the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
