Aft. Vicente Alban ”Noble Woman & Her Black Slave” - After Vicente Alban (Ecuadorian, 18th century). Oil on canvas painting after Vicente Alban's ”Noble Woman with Her Black Slave (Senora principal con su negra esclava), ” ca. 20th century. The original artwork, painted ca. 1783, was created in a series of six paintings in which Alban sought to illustrate Quito's distinct racial stratification, serving as an important witness to Spanish colonialism. Unframed; height: 32 in x width: 47 1/2 in. Framed; height: 40 1/4 in x width: 56 1/4 in x depth: 2 1/2 in. Condition: There are no tears or losses. There are areas of inpainting that fluoresce under UV light, particularly along each of the figures. There is craquelure throughout. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
