19th c. Continental School Portrait Painting - Continental school oil on canvas portrait of a woman. She is dressed in black with a white bonnet and black ribbons. Likely early- to mid-19th century. Unframed; Height: 36 1/2 in x width: 28 1/2 in. Framed; Height: 41 in x width: 32 1/2 in x depth: 3 1/2 in. Condition: The colors are bold and bright. There is some craquelure, including two areas of spiral craquelure along the upper third. There are some signs of restoration throughout. There are several patched areas along the verso that correspond to signs of restoration along the recto. Light wear to the frame.
