Style Johann Carl Loth Venetian School Painting - Style of Johann Carl Loth (German, 1632-1698). Oil on canvas Venetian School painting depicting a mythological pastoral scene in which a satyr sits beside a youthful figure delicately playing the lute, a cherub or putti figure rests to their right. Stamped illegibly along the verso. Unframed; height: 18 1/2 in x width: 15 1/4 in. Framed; height: 21 3/4 in x width: 18 1/4 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: There are no tears. There is craquelure. Due to a very thick and discolored varnish, it is difficult to ascertain whether there are areas of restoration or inpainting. However, there are a few areas that fluoresce under UV light, primarily surrounding the figures. Wear to the extreme edges, including some losses to the pigment. Wear to the verso, including soiling and losses to the stretcher bars. Framed under glass. Wear to the frame, including some losses.
