Staffordshire Chinese Gardener Figurine ca. 1825 - Staffordshire, England. Porcelain figure of a Chinese gardener, ca. 1825. He wears a green robe with apricot pantaloons and leans on his spade. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 4 1/2 in x width: 2 3/4 in x depth: 1 3/4 in. Condition: There are restorations to the brim of the hat, particularly along the front. There is a small loss to the tips of the right fingers clutching the flower. There are small, scattered areas of inpainting along the back of the man's jacket. There is crazing to the glaze. There are linear firing flaws along each of the man's armpits, the hat, and to the right of the man's right shoe. There is some wear to the gilt and glaze, including small losses. There are two additional linear firing flaws along the interior, visible from the underside.
