Pr Meissen Dancing Chinese Boys ca. 1748 - Meissen, Germany. A pair of porcelain figures of dancing Chinese boys, ca. 1748. Each with leaf hats, colored shawls, and wearing robes painted with Indianische Blumen. Both on mound bases encrusted with flowers. Provenance: Christie's, London, ”The Nyffeler Collection of German Porcelain, ” June 9, 1986, Lot 70; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 8 3/4 in x width: 4 in x depth: 4 1/4 in. Condition: There are signs of restoration and repairs to the the hats of both figures, which fluoresce under UV light; there is a possible complete replacement to the hat of the yellow-hat figure. To the yellow-hat figure are breaks, losses, and areas that fluoresce under UV light to left hand as well as the flower within the hand. There is a hairline crack along the lower edge of the right sleeve that does not go through the sleeve. To both of the figures, there are breaks, chips, and losses to the applied floral and foliate elements along the bases. Some wear to the gilt and pigment along the extreme edges.
