Pair Poss. Capodimonte Large White Figures - Likely Capodimonte, Italy. Pair of very large white porcelain figures of a gallant and a companion, ca. late 19th century. Blue crowned N marks. The lady in a mob cap and flowing gown, the gentleman in breeches, waistcoat, and flowing overcoat. Provenance: McMillen Inc., New York, NY, 1989; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Woman) Height: 28 1/2 in x width: 10 1/2 in x depth: 13 1/2 in. (Man) Height: 28 1/2 in x width: 14 in x depth: 9 1/2 in. Condition: To the female figure, there are signs of restoration to the right hand. There are a few chips along the right extreme edge of the woman's dress. There are linear firing flaws throughout. A few areas along the base fluoresce under UV light. To the male figure, there is a restoration to the tip of his coat clutched in the figure's left hand. There are a few fleabite chips along the extreme edges of the figure's clothing. There are some linear firing flaws throughout. To each, there is some dust gathered along recessed areas. Wear to the undersides, including fleabite to small-sized chips.
