Pr Derby Porcelain Finch Figurines - Derby, England. Pair of porcelain models of finches on tree stumps encrusted with flower sprays, ca. 1765. Patch marks to the underside. Very similar to a Goldfinch figure in the collection of The V&A (AN 414:229-1885) made by William Duesbury & Co. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 4 3/4 in x width: 3 1/2 in x depth: 2 1/2 in. Condition: One bird signs of restoration and repair to both of the eyes as well as the tail that fluroresce under UV light; both birds with signs of repair and restoration to the beaks and some of the leaves, visible under UV light. There are some chips and losses to the applied floral and foliate elements. Crazing throughout both figures. Light wear to the undersides; one figure with small chip along the footrim.
