Meissen Tea Caddy ca. 1725-38 - Meissen, Germany. Porcelain tea caddy, ca. 1725-28. Of hexagonal form, each panel painted with Chinoiserie figures on terraces divided by gilt bands with a later silver-gilt cover. Gilder's number 44 along the underside. Provenance: Christie's, London, ”Important Continental Ceramics, ” December 3, 1984, Lot 281; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 4 1/4 in x diameter: 3 in Condition: There is a hairline crack along approximately half of the lower rim of the recessed neck, where it meets the shoulder of the vessel. Some wear to the gilt along the high points. Light wear to the footrim, including a small chip. Some verdigris patination and tarnishing to the metal lid.
