Meissen Coffee Pot ca. 1740 - Meissen, Germany. Porcelain coffee pot with cover, ca. 1740. Of baluster form with a scroll handle painted with a Chinoiserie family on a terrace with gilt scrollwork along the rims. Blue crossed swords mark and gilder's number 32 along the underside. Provenance: Christie's, London, ”Important Continental Porcelain, ” July 4, 1983, Lot 128; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 8 1/4 in x width: 5 1/2 in x diameter: 4 1/2 in. Condition: To the neck and shoulders of the teapot, there is a diagonal repaired crack, measuring approximately 3 inches. There is an additional restoration to the handle. There is a hairline crack along the base of the handle. A few fleabite chips along the interior of the lid. There is a drilled hole along the top of the lid. It is possible that the knop has been repaired or reattached; the cuff around the knop fluoresces under UV light. Some tarnishing to the metal chain. Some wear to the pigment and gilt. Light wear to the footrim. There are two labels affixed.
