Meissen Cobalt Blue Cup & Saucer ca. 1855 - Meissen, Germany. Porcelain cobalt blue covered cup and saucer, ca. 1855. The egg-shaped cup with three paw-form legs with entwined snakes as the handle. Painted with a circular cartouche of Venus & Apollo with Cupid. The saucer with a loose bouquet. All three rims with Laub-und-Bandelwerk. Blue crossed swords marks. Provenance: Fleur-de-Lis Antiques, Palm Beach, FL, 1982; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Teacup) Height: 4 1/2 in x width: 3 3/4 in x diameter: 2 3/4 in. (Saucer) Diameter: 5 in. Condition: There are no cracks or signs of restoration. There are a few fleabite to small sized chips along the footrim of the saucer. Very light wear to the gilt and glaze.
