Early Chinese Polychrome Bronze Buddha Figure - Early Chinese polychrome bronze sculpture depicting a seated Buddha or Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The figure is shown with a serene expression, holding a ruyi scepter, and surmounted by an elaborate tiered crown. Height: 9 in x width: 5 1/2 in x depth: 3 3/4 in. Condition: Wear throughout commensurate with age and material. There are heavy areas of crazing, flaking, and losses to the pigment throughout. There is a loss to the apex of the sceptre. There is a repaired loss to the woman's right hand. Dust and debris gathered along the interior. Areas of oxidation along the underside.
