ML Owens NC Pottery Chinese Style 2-Handled Vase - Melvin Lee Owens (American, 1917-2003) for M.L. Owens Pottery, Steeds, North Carolina. Art pottery two-handled ”Old Chinese” style amphora or urn vase, ca. 1940s. Of tapering form, resting on recessed footrim. With two applied loop handles along the shoulder, executed in a mottled turquoise and oxblood glaze, similar to Jugtown Ware pottery. Impressed ”M.L. Owens” and ”Steeds, North Carolina” along the underside. Height: 6 3/4 in x width: 6 1/2 in x diameter: 5 3/4 in. Condition: There are no breaks, losses, or repairs. Light crazing to the glaze. Light wear to the footrim.
