Weller ”Woodcraft” Art Pottery Vase ca. 1920s - Weller Pottery, Zanesville, Ohio. Art Pottery ”Woodcraft” pattern sculptural vase in the form of a tree, ca. 1920s. Depicting an owl perched on a branch beside a hollow in the tree trunk, a cluster of applied apples situated overhead. Executed in matte green, brown, and additional glazes. Similar in design to vases of the ”Selma” or ”Knifewood” pattern styles. Impressed ”Weller” along the underside. Reference: Sharon & Bob Huxford, ”The Collectors Encyclopedia of Weller Pottery, ” Collector Books: Kentucky, 1987, pp. 153. Height: 15 1/2 in x width: 7 in x depth: 7 1/4 in. Condition: There are signs of a repaired break that fluoresce under UV light along where the owl meets the trunk. Crazing throughout. Light wear to the footrim.
