Clement Haupers Bathing Scene Oil Painting - Clement Bernard Haupers (American, 1900-1982). Oil on board bathing scene painting depicting four nude women amid rocks in a body of water, early 20th century. Signed along the lower left. Clement Bernard Haupers was a St. Paul born American painter, printmaker, arts administrator, and arts educator active from the 1920s to the 1980s. He is best known for his directorship of the Minnesota Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project and for his influence in the Minnesota art community. Unframed; height: 14 1/4 in x width: 19 3/4 in. Framed; height: 18 in x width: 23 1/2 in x depth: 1 1/4 in. Condition: The colors are bold and deep. There are some small areas that fluoresce under UV light along the lower right quadrant of the work. There are areas of craquelure and small to moderate areas of flaking and losses to the paint throughout. Some wear along the extreme edges, particularly the lower edge. Some wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
