Acoma Polychrome Pottery Olla Jar ca. 1870-80 - Acoma Pueblo four-color polychrome pottery olla pot vessel, ca. 1870-80. Of finely formed globular body with a gently recessed neck. Depicting bold polychrome geometric and curvilinear motifs painted on a warm buff ground. The prominent central rectangular medallions, framing triangles within borders of fine hatching providing a strong visual anchor, while panels featuring stepped geometric forms, triangular shapes, and stylized floral or avian elements with dotted interiors create a sense of winding rhythmic movement across the vessel’s surface. Height: 12 1/2 in x diameter: 13 in. Condition: Wear commensurate with age. There are some signs of restoration and areas throughout that fluoresce under UV light, including a repaired crack along the slope of the shoulder. Crazing to the pigment. There is a loss along the rim, approximately 1 inch. Some wear to the footrim.
