After Paolo Veronese Biblical Painting - After Paolo Veronese (Italian, 1528-1588). Oil on canvas painting depicting a Biblical figure, possibly King Nebuchadnezzar, John the Baptist, or a saintly figure. The plaque identifies the figure as St. Sebastian in ecstasy, however, the crown and fur indicate a different figure. Unframed; height: 43 in x width: 35 in. Framed; height: 52 in x width: 45 1/4 in x depth: 3 in. Condition: There is a large horizontal repaired tear running through the upper quarter of the work from one edge to the other, the tear runs through the figure's face. There are several patched holes and one hole in the center of the figure's forehead. Several small tears, holes, or losses throughout. When examined under UV light; there are extensive areas of inpainting, especially along the figure's head, body, and arms. Losses to the pigment and canvas along the extreme edges. Wear to the frame.
