14k Gold & Carved Coral Dionysus Brooch - Carved coral brooch in the form of the head of Dionysus with swirling hair surmounted by a great of grape leaves and vines. Suspending three bunches of grapes and two amphoras. Mounted on a gold frame along the back with older c clasp closure. With hinged, base metal bale. Likely Italian, from the late Georgian or early Victorian eras. Unmarked, tested 14k. Length: 2 1/2 in x width: 1 3/4 in x depth: 1 in. Gross weight: 45.3 g. Condition: Visible glue along the back side, one amphora handle broken, some components loose.
