19th/20th c. Victorian Traveling Vanity Case - Victorian traveling vanity box or cosmetic case with leather interior of numerous compartments containing silver plate mounted glass vessels, scissors, nail tools, a sterling and 14k gold thimble, boot hook, mechanical pencil, and additional instruments, 19th-20th century. Featuring a wooden box with black lacquer and inlaid gilt details, reading initials ”S.L” for Sylvie Livingston (1827-1873) of the prominent New York founding family. With lock and two keys, and exterior canvas travel case. The silver plated glass items marked ”Double JC” with heart and star. Height: 4 1/2 in x width: 12 3/4 in x depth: 8 1/2 in. Condition: Inlaid elements pulling from case exterior, cracks to case exterior. Accretions to the interior. Tarnishing and wear to the silverplate, one impliment missing from the velvet tray. Other empty compartments in case's lower level.
