Imperial Chinese Qianlong Silk Perfume Purse - Chinese Qing dynasty imperial embroidered silk propitious pouch or scent purse, Qianlong period, 18th century. With stepped geometric motifs surrounding a central auspicious character medallion along the exterior. Embroidered silk purses of this form, known as ”hebao, ” were originally used to carry personal items like coins, seals, or scented herbs, especially since historical clothing often lacked pockets. Over time, hebao also evolved into decorative accessories and symbolic gifts, sometimes filled with fragrant materials and exchanged during festivals or as tokens of affection. Height: 3 in x width: 3 1/2 in x depth: 1/4 in. Condition: There are no major signs of repair. There are two small tears and one minute hole along the lower edge of purse. Some shattering to the navy blue silk. Light wear to the tassels.
