Chinese Ming Dynasty Bronze Censer w/ Wood Lid - Chinese archaistic bronze censer (ding), Ming dynasty. Of a stout cylindrical form with loop handles along either side of the vessel and elaborately incised geometric taotie mask motifs. Resting on three tripod legs. Surmounted by a carved and pierced hardwood lid. Height: 5 3/4 in x diameter: 4 1/2 in. Condition: Patina throughout the censer. There is a crack below one of the handles. To the lid there is a triangular split forming to the wood. Wear where a knop was once attached. Lacking a knop.
