A.J. Hedges 14k Handkerchief Bracelet - A.J. Hedges (Newark, United States, 1877-ca.1965) 14k yellow gold handkerchief bracelet, 1879. Comprised of wavy square links in mottled yellow, white, green, and red gold to imitate handkerchiefs of various patterns. The central link set with an old European cut diamond and the links on either side set with an old European cut blue sapphire and pink sapphire, likely from Montana. With a hidden box clasp closure. Engraved A from B '86 on the clasp, which likely covers the original AJ Hedges mark. Also marked along three links Pat.Nov.4.79 An almost identical example in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, object number 2005.449. Dietz, Joselit, Smead, and Zapata, The Glitter and the Gold, Newark Museum (2006), similar illus. #106. Length: 7 in. Gross weight: 22.8 g. Condition: Two jump rings attached that likely held a safety chain that is no longer there.
