Japanese Shinto Hira Zukuri Wakizashi Dha Sword - Burmese dha sword with Japanese Shinto period (ca. 1596-1780) hira zukuri wakizashi blade. Wooden scabbard bound with finely braided fiber and mounted with a chased brass locket. The grip wrapped in rattan with modest iron guard. The blade may have traveled from Japan to Burma through various channels, such as trade via the Dutch East India Company or brought by a samurai warrior serving the Arakanese kingdom in its conflict against the First Toungdo Empire. Condition: Wear commensurate with age including some tarnishing and patination to the blade and guard. The guard is slightly loose. There is a split forming along the base of the handle. Wear to the sheath or scabbard including some small losses to the rattan and splitting along the length of the wood. Some dust gathered along the recessed areas.
