David Rathman "I Am Arnout..." Painting
David Rathman (American, b. 1958). Oil on canvas painting titled "I am Arnout, who swims against the coming tide, " depicting a figure swimming with the title in text above.
David Rathman earned his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1982. Rathman currently lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Not limiting himself to a painter, he expands his medium to limited edition books, prints, and films. His work has been housed in numerous outstanding national art institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Walker Art Center.
Unframed; height: 32 in x width: 25 3/4 in. Framed; height: 33 1/4 in x width: 27 1/4 in x depth: 2 1/4 in.
Condition: There are no obvious or major tears, losses, or signs of restoration to the work. Along the lower left quadrant, there is an area of splattered paint along both the canvas and the frame, possibly original to the artistic process. Housed within a wooden frame, not under glass or plexiglass. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame. Verso not inspected.
