Kunisada/Toyokuni III "Shibaraku" Kabuki Print
Utagawa Kunisada/Toyokuni III (Japanese, 1786-1865). Woodblock print promoting the kabuki play "Shibaraku, " one of the Kabuki Juhachiban (Eighteen Great Plays). The play was known for its dramatic costumes and kumadori makeup.
Height: 14 in x width: 9 3/4 in.
Condition: The sheet is possibly trimmed and toned. Soiling and minute losses. Deep crease running horizontally through the center. There is a tear along crease along the left edge. Patches along the verso. The work is not framed.
