Hiroshi Yoshida ”Temple in the Wood” Jizuri Print - Hiroshi Yoshida (Japanese, 1876-1950). Woodblock print on paper titled ”Temple in the Wood” depicting a shrine next to a babbling brook, 1940. Pencil signed and titled along the lower margin. With a jizuri seal along the left margin. The jizuri ”self-printed” seal indicates that the printing process was directly supervised by him and that he played an active role in the creation of this print. These seals were typically reserved for only the highest quality impressions as decided by Yoshida. Height: 15 3/4 in x width: 10 3/4 in. Condition: The sheet is toned. There are no major tears, losses, or signs of restoration. Some wear including small chips along the upper edge. There is a pinhole along the upper left. Two small areas of soiling along the verso. The work is not framed.
