Antique Japanese Sumi-e Ink Painting of Hotei - Antique Japanese sumi-e ink painting depicting Hotei (Budai) standing atop his sack with a walking stick. Hotei was an eccentric Tang Dynasty monk. He is often depicted with his large jute bag traveling pack which carried his possessions as well as alms. Height: 13 1/4 in x width: 9 in. Condition: The sheet is toned. Some soiling and foxing throughout. Light crease through the lower center. More toning along the edges due to acidic paper affixed to the margins of the verso. The work is not framed.
