Antique Japanese Ink Painting of Hotei Resting - Antique Japanese sumi-e ink painting depicting a figure with a large sack, possibly Hotei (Budai), an eccentric Tang Dynasty monk. He is often depicted with his large jute bag traveling pack which carried his possessions as well as alms. Height: 9 1/2 in x width: 12 1/2 in. Condition: The sheet is toned. Some soiling and foxing throughout. More toning along the edges due to acidic paper affixed to the margins of the verso. The work is not framed.
