Antique Japanese Scroll Scholar Painting - Antique Japanese scroll painting of figures either descending up a mountain or rising in clouds. Huaxin; height: 49 in x width: 34 1/4 in. Scroll; height: 84 in x width: 40 1/2 in. Condition: The scroll is somewhat fragile and brittle and the sheet is toned. There are no major losses to the painting. Soiling and several signs of moisture exposure throughout the painting. There are several deep horizontal creases throughout and undulation consistent with being rolled. Significant wear to the silk backing including heavy soiling and extremely deep creases along the lower edge; several large threadbare areas along the upper quarter of the scroll.
