Warren MacKenzie Ceramic Tripod Plate - Warren MacKenzie (American, 1924-2018). Studio pottery ceramic three-footed plate or shallow bowl. Stoneware with shino glaze and slip trailing along the surface of the plate, resting atop three tripod feet. Not marked. Warren MacKenzie was a renowned Minnesota studio potter. A student of Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, he is credited with bringing the functional Mingei tradition to the United States, and spreading it through his own art and mentorship of students during his long tenure at the University of Minnesota. Height: 2 1/2 in x diameter: 10 in. Condition: No visible cracks, chips, or losses. There is minute wear to the feet, as expected from age and use. There are no signs of restoration under UV light.
