Early 20th c. Royal Doulton Titanian Rose Vase - Royal Doulton, England. Rare ”titanian ware” porcelain vase depicting a delicate array or roses amid green foliage, early 20th century. With Doulton's signature brilliant blue ”titanian” glaze. Stamped Royal Doulton maker's mark and ”Titanian” along the underside; numbered 6, 10, and 1219 or 219. Developed in 1915 by Royal Doulton's artistic director at the time, Charles J. Noke (British, 1858-1941), titanian glaze uses varying amounts of titanium oxide to impart a rich blue hue to the glaze. Height: 8 1/2 in x diameter: 4 in. Condition: There are no cracks, losses, or restorations. Light wear to the footrim including minute chips to the glaze.
