Stalhane for Rorstrand MCM ”Bahia” Ceramic Vase - Carl-Harry Stalhane (Swedish, 1920-1990) for Rorstrand, Sweden. Small mid-century modern ceramic ”Bahia” model pitcher vase with a narrow spout-form neck and rotund ribbed body, ca. 1950. Stoneware with a matte black glaze along the exterior and glossy pale green glaze along the interior and the spout. Stamped Rorstrand maker's mark, ”Sweden, ” and ”Bahia” along the underside; numbered ”9” or possibly ”6” along the underside. ”Bahia” was an unusually modern line designed by Stalhane for Rorstrand during the 1950s. Carl-Harry Stalhane is one of the most celebrated figures of 20th-century Swedish ceramic design. He is best known for his role as the artistic leader at Rorstrand during the 1960s. His name has become synonymous with exceptional ceramic quality, stunning creative design, and outstanding craftsmanship. Stalhane's work is represented in the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design. Height: 6 in x diameter: 3 1/2 in. Condition: There are no chips, cracks, losses, or restorations.
