2 CH Stalhane for Rorstrand Ceramic Vessels - Carl-Harry Stalhane (Swedish, 1920-1990). Group of two ceramic vessels including a small bowl with a delicately flared rim and carved ”slashing” motif along the exterior in addition to a rolled edge plate or bowl with an attractive incised fish bone motif, mid-20th century. Stoneware, the bowl with a matte brown-grey glaze and the plate with a rich umber glaze. Both incised along the underside with a Rorstrand maker's mark, ”Atelje, ” ”Ch-Se, ” and ”Sweden”. The bowl is marked with a first quality Rorstrand mark; the plate bears a second quality mark. Carl-Harry Stalhane is one of the most celebrated figures of 20th-century Swedish ceramic design. He is best known for his role as the artistic leader at Rorstrand during the 1960s. His name has become synonymous with exceptional ceramic quality, stunning creative design, and outstanding craftsmanship. Stalhane's work is represented in the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design. (Bowl) Height: 3 1/2 in diameter: 5 1/4 in. (Plate) Height: 1 1/4 in x diameter: 11 in.
