Portanier Abstract Ceramic Toro Sculpture 1989 - Gilbert Portanier (French, 1926-2023). Stunning abstract ceramic ”Toro” sculpture depicting a painted bull along the exterior, 1989. Incised signature and dated along the interior of the upper edge. Portanier was influenced by Picasso and became a key figure in the revival of French ceramics. The design of the piece exhibits both the powerful presence of Portanier and Picasso's influence. Height: 12 1/4 in x width: 11 1/4 in x depth: 8 in.
