20th c. Gilbert Portanier Abstract Ceramic Vase - Gilbert Portanier (French, 1926-1923). Monumental sculptural ceramic vase depicting abstract shapes and patterns in relief along the exterior, ca. 1950. Incised signature along the lower left edge. Portanier was influenced by Picasso and became a key figure in the revival of French ceramics. Height: 15 in x width: 12 1/2 in x depth: 7 1/2 in. Condition: There are no visible cracks or restorations. Losses to the glaze throughout. Crazing to the glaze in glossy areas. Wear to the footrim.
