Late 19th c. Cast Iron Figural Cigar Cutter - Late 19th century cast iron figural cigar press or cutter, possibly depicting a zouave, fastened to a wooden base. There is a blade along the interior of the figure's mouth which is operated by raising or lowering the man's arm. When the blade cuts the tip of the cigar, it is deposited into the figure and can be removed by opening a hatch located along the back lower edge of the object. Height: 7 in x width: 5 in x depth: 5 in. Condition: Tarnishing to the metal. Small white accretions throughout. Wear to the wooden base including scratches where the figure swivels. There are losses to the felt underside.
