J. & E. Stevens Mechanical ”Artillery Bank” - J. & E. Stevens Company, United States. Cast iron and pigment ”Artillery” mechanical coin bank, late 19th century. When a coin is placed inside of the cannon, a lever can be pulled to ”load” the mechanism and raise the man's arm. There is a separate lever that can be pulled to launch the coin from the cannon into a window along the coin trap, which is in the form of a red brick artillery building. ”Pat. Feb 2 1885” etched along the coin trap door. Height: 6 in x width: 8 1/4 in x depth: 4 1/4 in. Condition: Losses to the paint and tarnishing to the metal. The push level and trigger move well and work. Wear to the underside and touch points.
