18th c. Spanish Colonial Crucifixion Painting - 18th-century Spanish Colonial oil on canvas painting depicting the crucifixion of Christ. Sight; height: 16 1/4 in x width: 12 1/4 in. Framed; height: 19 1/2 in x width: 15 1/2 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: The surface is not stable. There are extensive losses to the lower bottom edge and corner; the bare canvas is visible throughout the lower half. There are losses to the top edge and corners. There are losses and repairs to the top right quadrant; along the verso a piece of matboard has been affixed to the canvas. There is a tear across the center of the canvas measuring approximately 10 inches that has been repaired. There is a loss that has been repaired, along the center of the left edge of the canvas, measuring approximately 2 inches long. Wear to the frame. The paper backing has been removed for inspection of the painting.
