Alexander Calder ”Red Discs” Painting 1964 - Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976). Gouache on paper painting titled ”Red Discs” depicting six black matchstick-like forms against a vibrant background of splashes of yellow, red, and blue along with bright red discs, 1964. Signed and dated along the lower right. Authenticated by the Calder Foundation, no. A05787. Provenance: Perls Gallery; Private New York Collection 1966; Lark Mason Associates; Private Minnesota Collection. Sight; height: 25 3/4 in x width: 19 3/4 in. Framed; height: 27 1/2 in x width: 21 1/2 in x depth: 1 1/4 in. Condition: There are no large tears, creases, losses, or restorations. The sheet is toned. There is light wear to the deckled edge. Along the lower center edge there is a very small tear (approx. 1/8 in in length). Very light spots of foxing throughout. Along the verso there are two pieces of affixed tape to the upper corners. Pencil inscriptions along the verso reading ”7558” and ”19056.” Floated in frame on a non-acidic matboard. Framed under glass. Light wear to the frame.
