Alexis Fournier Early Landscape Painting - Alexis Jean Fournier (American, 1865-1948). Gouache on artist board painting titled ”Mittag” depicting a stone structure at the banks of a lake with a mid-day picnic set on a stone table. Signed along the lower right; titled along the lower center. From Fournier's early era of painting genre landscapes and scenes. Annotated along the verso ”Sketch for wall panel decoration 'Mittag” / [signature] / 7 x 22 1/2.” Provenance: By repute, purchased from Roycroft Gallery in East Aurora, New York, 1995; Private Minnesota Collection. Image, sight; height: 7 in x width: 22 1/4 in. Framed; height: 12 in x width: 27 1/2 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: The colors are somewhat darkened. There is a tear along the lower edge that extends through the gold banner. No other visible tears, creases, or losses. Extreme edges not inspected. Framed under glass; wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
