19th c. Continental Officer Portrait Painting - 19th century Continental oil on canvas portrait painting depicting a seated officer. This work was part of the Dayton-Hudson collection which decorated the executive offices at the Hudson's downtown Detroit headquarters. Sight; height: 35 1/2 in x width: 27 1/4 in. Framed; height: 36 1/2 in x width: 28 1/4 in x depth: 1 1/2 in. Condition: The surface is stable. The colors are somewhat darkened. There is craquelure throughout. There are signs of inpainting throughout, in particular along the top edge and the right side of the face. Due to a thick and uneven varnish it is difficult to discern the extent of the restorations. The painting has been relined. Light wear to the frame.
