Paolo Soleri Tripod Cluster Bronze Wind Bell - Paolo Soleri (Italian/American, 1919-2013) for Arcosanti, United States. Cluster of three bronze verdigris wind bells. Soleri coined his architectural design studio and nonprofit foundation ”Cosanti, ” from the blending of the Italian words ”cosa” and ”anti, ” meaning ”against things.” This was done as a critique of the culture of consumerism he witnessed taking hold in the world. In 1970, The Cosanti Foundation began construction of a prototype arcology city (a term coming from the blending of architecture and ecology). This city in the Arizona desert would be named Arcosanti. Built on sustainable architecture, the artisans of this city are famous for their wind chimes and bells. Height: 59 in x width: 9 in x depth: 6 1/2 in. Condition: Verdigris patination throughout. Some evidence of oxidization throughout. Lacking two diamond-shaped ornaments that would have hung from the bottom of two bells. The remaining diamond-shaped ornament is bent in several spaces.
