2 Southeast Asian Ceramic Animals
Group of two Southeast Asian ceramic animals, likely from China, Vietnam, or Cambodia. One white glazed bird and one red glazed beast.
(Beast) height: 5 in x width: 2 1/4 in x depth: 5 1/4 in. (Bird) height: 4 1/2 in x width: 3 1/4 in x depth: 6 1/2 in.
Condition: The plates are in fair condition with no major chips, cracks, or losses. All items show heavy wear, crazing, and scattered original firing flaws throughout. As expected from age and use, there are several areas the coloration has faded; some areas are discolored. The blue plate captured lower center has a minute chip to the rim. The blue plate captured the lower left has minute chips to the rim and a minute loss near the rim; there is another minute loss to the underside. All items have paint accretion to the underside. None of them show a sign of restoration under UV light.
