Chinese Carved Jade Cong w/ Taotie Masks - Archaic style Chinese carved jade Cong decorated with taotie masks along the corners, likely Ming. Masks of this style of carving are much more common in the 17th and 19th centuries and largely unknown before that. Provenance: Private Minneapolis Collection - collected in China prior to 1985. Height: 2 in x diameter: 3 3/4 in. Weight: 330.8 grams. Condition: No major chips, losses, or restorations. Wear throughout consistent with age and material. Light calcifications throughout.
