Lrg Chinese Qing Double Embroidery 1880-1910
One large Chinese late Qing dynasty double dragon silk embroidered panel mounted to a hanging rod, ca. 1880-1910. Heavily piled silk embroidery with the two fierce golden dragons flying over dense clouds and waves with Buddhist symbols. The sides bordered by shou symbols and bats.

Provenance: Asian Fine Arts, Minneapolis, MN 1990; The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Length: 71 in x width: 110 in.
Condition: The colors are bold and deep; they are ever so slightly faded. There are no noticeable stains or major losses. There are several areas where the silk has shattered; the largest areas along the right side, some small areas of shattering throughout center, minor shatters throughout. Along the extreme edges there are areas of wear, small losses, loose threads, and small tears. There are minor areas of loose threads throughout; most notable in the waves. There is an approx. 5.5 inch tear that has been repaired running vertically from the lower edge along the lower left corner. General wear throughout.
