5 18th c. Chinese Teadust Vessels
Group of five 18th c. Chinese teadust glaze vases or pots. Three marked along the underside. Cha ye mo, or "teadust" glaze, was used as early as the Tang dynasty produced at the Yaozhou kilns, but it was not until the early 18th century that the glaze was widely produced. It was ideal for reproductions of bronze originals due to the subdued color of the glaze.
Height ranges from 3 1/2 in to 3 3/4 in; diameter ranges from 3 in to 4 1/2 in.
Condition: The items are in good condition with no visible cracks or losses, or major chips. Light wear throughout as expected from age and use. Chips along the footrim, which do not significantly alter the overall appearance of pieces. Original firing and glazing flaws visible. The item, captured lower far left in the listing image, has a minute dent to the exterior and two white accretions along the underside. The item, upper left, has a minute dent to the exterior and a small area with overspray to the exterior. The item, lower far right, has a line of scratch to the exterior, measuring 2 1/4 in; there is an original firing flaw, which measures 1 1/4 in, towards the underside. All items show wear to the underside, consistent with age and use.
