Large Important Soapstone Guanyin Ex. Prince Duan - Large exceptional late Qing dynasty Chinese soapstone sculpture depicting a seated Guanyin viewing the water moon. With polychrome painted highlights. Each foot is resting on a lotus blossom, one raised with an arm resting on the knee. The figure is surrounded by swirling water. This work previously belonged to Zaiyi (Chinese, 1856-1923) (better known as Prince Duan), and according to his great-granddaughter Hengyi Aixinjueluo, it was brought with him into exile.
