Ren Yi "Ren Bonian" (Chinese, 1840-1895). Ink on gold paper painting depicting a brightly colored bird on a flowering branch. Marked with his seal in red and inscribed along the margin of the painting.
Height: 15 1/4 in x width: 15 1/4 in.
Condition: The painting is in great condition with no visible tears, creases, or losses. The paper is toned and has minor soiling. There is a very minor tide line to the upper left quadrant, possibly water damage. Along the left margin, there is a vertical mark; see the listing image. To the center, there is a vertical line that goes through the circle. The color is bold and bright. To the left, there is an area with black marks as shown in the listing image. From the verso, the paper is toned. Throughout the verso, there are white minute brown dots; it is difficult to discern whether it is foxing or original to the paper. There are black accretions to the verso. When inspected under UV light, there is no visible sign of restoration. Please contact us for a detailed condition report.
