Pu Hua Ink on Paper Crane Scroll Painting
P'u Hua (Chinese, 1830-1911). Ink on paper scroll painting depicting a crane. Inscribed and with the artist's seal in red along the lower right margin.
Total length: 69 in x width: 21 in. Huaxin; height: 44 in x width: 14 in.
Condition: The scroll is in fair condition with no major tears, creases, or losses. The paper is brittle, as expected from its age. The paper is toned and browned. There is foxing and heavy soiling. There are minor creases throughout, as expected. Chipping along the right and left margins. There are tide lines along the upper left quadrant. Along the upper margin of the huaxin, there is a cut that is not completely attached. There is a minute hole to the upper margin. There is a tear to the lower right margin, measuring 1/2 inch. No sign of restoration, when inspected under UV light. There is an area with white minute accretions. There is a minor skimming to the lower right margin of the huaxin.
