Matsumura Goshun Scroll Painting of Ducks - Matsumura Goshun (Japanese, 1752-1811). Ink on silk framed scroll painting divided into two pieces depicting a group of ducks, one flying. Signed along the lower left. Matsumura Goshun, sometimes referred to as Matsumura Gekkei, was an Edo period painter and a founder of the Shijo school of painting. A master of Japanese southern school painting, he was also a follower of Yosa Buson (Japanese, 1719-1784) and worked with a circle of painters around Maruyama Okyo (Japanese, 1733-1795).
